2 planes involved in minor collision at RDU – WRAL

An Avelo spokesperson said an Avelo aircraft clipped the winglet of a Southwest Airlines plane while being towed Thursday morning at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.
No flight delays or cancellations are expected as a result of the incident. Both planes were unoccupied at the time.

“An Avelo aircraft that was being towed clipped a parked Southwest aircraft this morning,” RDU confirmed to WRAL News. “There was no one on board either plane and there were no injuries. Airport operations were not affected.”
On Thursday, a Southwest spokesperson provided a statement to WRAL News.
“The wingtip of another airline’s aircraft contacted the right horizontal stabilizer of an unoccupied Southwest Airlines aircraft that was parked in a remote area at Raleigh-Durham International Airport this morning,” the spokesperson wrote. “Our maintenance team is assessing the damage. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the safety of our customers and employees.
