ATLANTA — A Southwest Airlines flight was diverted to Atlanta on Friday evening due to an unruly passenger. The flight was originally scheduled to depart from Nashville for Fort Lauderdale.
A Southwest Airlines spokesperson tells 11Alive, “Southwest Airlines Flight 2094 landed safely at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) Friday evening after diverting to respond to a possible security matter. We appreciate the professionalism of our Flight Crew and apologize to our Customers for the delay. Nothing is more important to Southwest than the Safety of its Customers and Employees.”
The Atlanta Police Department said that federal partners assisted in the incident.
In a statement, the FBI said, “Those on board reported a potential threat. Every threat is taken seriously. Once APD and FBI were able to investigate the situation, it was determined no credible threat existed and no charges will be filed. “
