Royal Caribbean to Temporarily Stop Serving Alcoholic Beverages at CocoCay – Cruise Industry News

Royal Caribbean International advised guests that it will not serve alcoholic beverages at its private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, on May 12, 2026.

According to a statement sent to passengers, the temporary alcohol ban is related to the national elections in the Bahamas.

“There is a public notice issued by the Ministry of National Security in The Bahamas that prohibits the distribution of alcohol during national elections,” the company explained.

“We’ve explored whether any exceptions could be made; however, this restriction applies nationwide throughout the Bahamas,” Royal Caribbean added.

“As a result, alcoholic beverages will not be served at Perfect Day at CocoCay during your visit,” the statement continued, noting that the destination will remain fully open and non-alcoholic beverages will continue to be served.

“You’ll still be able to enjoy the beach, amenities, food, entertainment and other offerings available during your visit.”

Royal Caribbean added that while services will be impacted ashore guests may continue to enjoy alcoholic beverages onboard.

“Our teams will be there to ensure you continue to enjoy a fun and relaxing experience at Perfect Day at CocoCay,” the company said.

Two ships are scheduled to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay on May 12: the Oasis of the Seas and the Wonder of the Seas.

While the Oasis is set to call at the port as part of a seven-night cruise from Cape Liberty, the Wonder will visit during a four-night cruise to the Bahamas.

In addition to the private island destination, both itineraries also include a visit to the port of Nassau in Eleuthera.

MSC Cruises also issued a similar statement earlier this week, advising guests that alcohol will not be available at its private island of Ocean Cay on May 12, 2026.
