Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Combines 51 Teams, Including Fantastic Four and Young Avengers, Using Magic: The Gathering Mechanics
The upcoming crossover set of Magic: The Gathering, featuring Marvel Super Heroes, is generating significant anticipation among enthusiasts of both franchises. A media source has revealed exclusive insights into the new edition of Jumpstart, which will include 51 distinct theme packs. Each pack allows players to blend two themed collections, providing an instant 40-card deck that is ready for competition.
This Jumpstart edition promises to enhance the gameplay experience by introducing over 180 all-new cards, alongside 62 reprints exclusive to this release. The mechanics of Jumpstart are designed to be straightforward, making it an accessible entry point for new players. By integrating a mixture of themes and characters—such as pairing a Fantastic Four pack with a Dr. Doom card—players can enjoy a unique gaming experience with every match.
Among the notable features of this new set is the inclusion of rare themes, such as the highly coveted Fantastic Four pack, classified under Mythic rarity, which stands in contrast to more common themes like the Young Avengers. Each theme carries a fixed list of cards, offering no variability within the individual packs, which adds a strategic layer to the game.
Within this compilation, players will discover several brand-new cards exclusive to Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart, typically numbering between three and seven per theme. Notably, these cards follow the MSC set code, thereby rendering them unplayable within Magic’s Standard format while still eligible for use in ‘Eternal’ formats like Commander.
In addition to the new cards, the set boasts reprints of several beloved cards from previous expansions, including new artwork for familiar spells and unexpected reprints of strategic cards. This unique blend of new and nostalgic options ensures that both seasoned players and newcomers will find something appealing when the Jumpstart packs release.
Tabletop prerelease events for the Marvel Super Heroes set are set to begin on June 19. Following this, the digital experience on MTG Arena will launch on June 23, culminating in the full physical release scheduled for June 26.
The upcoming crossover set not only promises to invigorate the Magic: The Gathering community but also seeks to engage a broader audience through its thematic integration with the Marvel universe. As the release date approaches, continued updates and insights will be circulated to keep fans informed.
