The 2026 Emmy nominations have been officially announced, highlighting the standout television productions of the past year. Leading the pack is the HBO Max drama The Pitt, which has garnered an impressive 25 nominations. Close behind is the innovative comedy series Hacks, which received 24 nominations, marking a record for the most nominations for a comedy series in a single year. Newcomer Widow’s Bay has also made a significant impact, with 19 nominations, the highest for any new show.
Other notable contenders in this year’s nominations include Pluribus, which earned 18 nominations, followed by Beef with 16, and DTF St. Louis with 13 nominations. Both Saturday Night Live and Spider-Noir received 11 nominations each, showcasing their continued relevance and popularity within the industry.
Overall, HBO Max leads all broadcasting networks and platforms with a staggering total of 122 nominations, reflecting the platform’s commitment to high-quality content and storytelling.
The formal announcement of the nominees was made at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time, during a live-streamed event from the TV Academy’s Saban Media Center. Presenting the nominations were past Emmy winners Liza Colón-Zayas (The Bear) and Jeff Hiller (Somebody Somewhere). This year, unlike previous years where nominees were announced in two phases, the TV Academy opted for a single comprehensive reveal. This change was made to better support the promotional activities of nominees and their respective networks.
The 2026 Emmy Awards ceremony is set to be hosted by Mariska Hargitay, marking a notable return as the first host in nearly two decades who is not primarily known for her comedic work. The event will be broadcast live on NBC and Peacock on September 14 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Hargitay, an Emmy winner herself for her role in Law & Order: SVU, is poised to bring her experience and gravitas to the ceremony.
In addition to her hosting duties, Hargitay is also in contention for an Emmy this year, with her documentary My Mom Jayne, about her mother Jayne Mansfield, up for several awards including Best Documentary or Nonfiction Special.
As the industry gears up for the awards, the full list of nominees serves as a testament to the exceptional talent and creativity present in the current television landscape.
