Samsung unveils Galaxy Watch 9 and Ultra 2 featuring advanced AI capabilities
Samsung has unveiled its latest offerings in the smartwatch market with the release of the Galaxy Watch 9 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 during its recent Galaxy Unpacked event. Notably absent from this year’s lineup is the Galaxy Watch Classic, a departure from previous years that has raised eyebrows among enthusiasts.
The Galaxy Watch 9 will be available in two sizes: a 40mm Bluetooth variant priced at 9.99 and a 44mm LTE model for 9.99. On the more premium end, the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 is positioned at 9.99 and boasts a larger 47mm size.
This new generation of smartwatches showcases several enhancements, particularly in battery life and overall functionality. The Watch 9 features a 445mAh battery in its larger version and a 390mAh option for the smaller watch, while the Ultra 2 offers an impressive 800mAh battery that can last up to 60 hours on a single charge. Both models are equipped with 2GB of memory and differ in storage capacities with the Watch 9 offering 32GB compared to the Ultra 2’s 64GB.
Samsung has made significant strides in display technology as well; the Ultra 2 features a striking 5,000-nit display, ideal for outdoor conditions, whereas the standard Watch 9 has a slightly dimmer 3,000-nit display. Another key advancement is the inclusion of the Snapdragon Wear Elite chip in both models, enhancing their processing capabilities.
On the software side, Samsung has introduced a suite of advanced tracking features tailored for outdoor enthusiasts in the Ultra 2. These include a dedicated trail running mode and a new dive tracking app set to launch later this year. The Ultra 2 is EN13319-certified, ensuring reliability when it comes to accurately measuring depth and time underwater.
Additionally, both watches will incorporate new AI-driven health features that personalize insights for users. These features will track metrics such as breathing disruptions during sleep and deviations in vital signs. Samsung aims to position these watches not merely as lifestyle accessories but as essential tools in managing personal health.
