Bank of America (BofA) has unveiled an ambitious initiative aimed at financing a comprehensive expansion of U.S. infrastructure, pledging 0 billion over the next 18 months. This effort, officially named the Critical Infrastructure Finance Initiative, is designed to enhance various sectors crucial to the nation’s economic landscape, including data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, power generation, and transportation systems. The initiative will conclude its funding efforts on July 4, 2027, marking a significant commitment to bolster the country’s infrastructure capacities.

The decision to launch this significant initiative comes at a time when there is a growing need for enhanced computing power, electrical generation, and manufacturing capabilities within the United States. BofA has indicated that the funding will focus on projects designed to improve energy security, technological leadership, and sustainable long-term economic growth. Such strategic investments are anticipated to not only enhance the current infrastructure but also prepare for future demands in an increasingly interconnected global economy.

Within this expansive framework, BofA’s initiative will target three primary areas: digital infrastructure, energy and power infrastructure, and core infrastructure. Digital infrastructure projects will encompass a range of advancements from data centers and computing hardware to telecommunications and semiconductors. Energy investments may include both conventional and renewable energy generation, energy storage, and distribution systems. Additionally, the core infrastructure sector will focus on transportation improvements, energy transmission, grid optimization, and essential water systems.

The critical aim of this initiative extends beyond simply uplifting infrastructure; it also seeks to create substantial employment opportunities. Bank of America estimates that its investments could yield tens of thousands of jobs in sectors spanning construction, manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure operations. The bank is also active in workforce development, having invested nearly million in 2025 alone to support over 730 workforce-development partners across 97 markets in the U.S. This funding is projected to have connected more than 90,000 individuals with employment opportunities and to have facilitated access to critical training and educational programs for over 290,000 people.

BofA’s Global Capital Solutions and Global Infrastructure & Sustainable Finance teams will spearhead this vital initiative, ensuring collaboration across all sectors of the bank’s operations.
