The company recently secured million in seed funding, a record amount for any African startup, aimed at advancing its mission of providing automated surveillance and defense systems to nations across the Global South. This unprecedented funding round highlights the growing importance of defense technologies in regions often overlooked by traditional military producers.
The focus of Terra Industries is to develop drones capable of performing both air and land surveillance, accompanied by an innovative operating system designed to enhance threat detection and data collection. The company has strategically positioned itself to cater to markets in Africa and Latin America, fulfilling a demand for customized defense solutions that account for local conditions and infrastructural requirements.
In a notable expansion effort, Terra Industries plans to open an office in London while also nearing completion of what is expected to be Africa’s largest drone manufacturing facility at the Pax-2 site in Ghana. These developments underscore the company’s ambition to not only operate at a higher production capacity but also to secure a foothold in the global defense dialogue.
Prior to this landmark funding, Terra Industries had raised .75 million in January 2026, marking a notable achievement for an African defense technology firm at that time. Additionally, the company has developed ArtemisOS, its proprietary operating system that manages data and mission planning for its drones. Currently, Terra Industries operates from a 15,000-square-foot facility in Abuja, Nigeria, with plans for rapid expansion that may yield up to 50,000 drones annually.
