Cold conditions with sub-zero temperatures and isolated showers expected across parts of South Australia on Monday

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued warnings advising the public to brace for notably colder conditions across several regions. Specifically, portions of the Northern and Western Cape are expected to experience particularly low daytime temperatures that may fall to 10 degrees Celsius or lower. These chilly temperatures will primarily affect the southern regions of Namakwa in the Northern Cape, and the municipalities of Witzenberg and Central Karoo in the Western Cape.

As South Africans prepare for these unseasonably cold conditions, attention is drawn to detailed forecasts for various provinces. In Gauteng, cities like Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Vereeniging will experience cool, dry weather with daytime highs peaking at around 22 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Mpumalanga is expected to be similarly cool, with the Lowveld region offering warmer daytime temperatures, with Mbombela potentially reaching as high as 23 degrees Celsius and Skukuza seeing highs of 29 degrees Celsius.

In Limpopo, weather conditions are anticipated to remain fine and cool, albeit with warmer weather in the eastern parts of the province. For instance, Polokwane’s temperatures will range from 8 to 20 degrees Celsius, while Phalaborwa could see highs of 26 degrees Celsius.

The North West province will maintain a similarly cool climate, with towns like Klerksdorp and Potchefstroom observing daytime highs between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius. The Free State will experience partly cloudy conditions, especially in the southern regions, with temperatures ranging from 6 to 22 degrees Celsius in cities like Bloemfontein and Welkom.

The Northern Cape is expected to experience morning fog along the coast, transitioning to cloudy conditions with possible isolated showers and thundershowers in the southeast. Meanwhile, the Western Cape could see morning fog give way to cooler temperatures, with Cape Town hovering between 12 and 16 degrees Celsius.

In the Eastern Cape, conditions will shift from partly cloudy to cloudy, bringing afternoon showers along specific coastal areas. Lastly, KwaZulu-Natal will experience predominantly fine and warm weather, although the eastern parts may see isolated showers later in the day.

As the weather fluctuates, residents from all regions are encouraged to stay informed through updates from the SAWS to better prepare for these changes.
