Passengers with travel booked on March 14 and 15 may reschedule without change fees.

MINNEAPOLIS — Delta Air Lines said it will begin taking “proactive steps to minimize disruption” by processing flight cancellations at Midwest airports, including its hub at MSP International, ahead of heavy snow forecast for this weekend.

In a post on its website, Delta said it “automatically rebooks customers to the next best itinerary,” and passengers can also re-book on the airline’s website and app.

According to Delta, passengers with travel booked on March 14 or 15 may rebook on another flight with no change fee and no fare difference if the flight is booked and begins by March 22. Rebooked flights taking place after March 22 may still incur a fare difference.

Customers can also cancel their ticket and apply the value toward a future flight within one year of the original ticket’s issuance.

In addition to MSP, Delta said other affected airports will include Brainerd, Duluth, Hibbing and Rochester in Minnesota, as well as airports in Sioux Falls, Des Moines, Madison, Milwaukee, Green Bay, and several smaller communities in South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan.

“The safety of Delta customers and our people remains first and foremost as we closely monitor forecasts to determine necessary adjustments to flight schedules,” Delta said in a statement.
