Dragon Quest 11 S Reveals Frame Rate and Resolution for Nintendo Switch 2

Square Enix has recently revealed several key enhancements for the upcoming release of “Dragon Quest 11 S” on the Nintendo Switch 2. A media source reports that alongside the initial announcement, the company detailed the frame rate and resolution options players can expect. This new installment will allow players to select between two graphical modes, offering the flexibility to prioritize either performance or visual quality during gameplay.

In Performance Priority Mode, players can achieve a frame rate of 60 frames per second (FPS) at a resolution of 1080p, which enhances fluidity and responsiveness, especially during fast-paced action sequences. Conversely, selecting the Image Quality Priority Mode will reduce the frame rate to 30 FPS but increase the resolution to a sharper 1440p, catering to players who prefer more detailed graphics over performance.

However, it is noteworthy that Square Enix has not clarified any differences between playing in docked versus handheld modes. With the Nintendo Switch 2’s screen maxing out at 1080p resolution, this may limit the benefits of the higher resolution option in certain modes.

In a development that may disappoint some fans, it has been made clear that save data from the Nintendo Switch 1 version of “Dragon Quest 11 S” will not be transferable to the new system. This aligns with the fact that the release does not represent an upgraded version of the previous title but is rather a standalone edition. Consequently, players who had purchased the game for the original Nintendo Switch will need to invest an additional to acquire the latest release, which could deter many potential buyers given the absence of new content.

The new title marks the eleventh installment in the celebrated Dragon Quest series and invites players back into a world filled with rich storytelling and exploration. According to the media source, “Dragon Quest 11 S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition for Nintendo Switch 2” includes all previously released content from the original Definitive Edition, enhancing the experience with new story chapters, a selection of voice options, and various gameplay modes. Players can also enjoy a new orchestral score as they navigate through their roles as legendary heroes.

“Dragon Quest 11 S” is set to release for the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 24, 2026. The anticipation surrounding this game builds as fans look forward to exploring its expansive world and narrative depth.
