Describing the last eight months as a “living nightmare,” Jake reflected on the complex emotions that have accompanied his loss. “It feels like eight years at the same time as it feels like eight minutes,” he explained, highlighting the intense and ongoing impact of this tragedy on his daily life. The day of the murders, he was attending a celebration of life for a friend at Union Station, unaware of the horrors unfolding at home. His younger sister Romy attempted to reach him that day, and when he eventually spoke with her, she broke the heart-wrenching news.
