Local man considered a ‘Christmas Miracle’ after delivering vital packages following FedEx mishap – WRAL
A Harnett County man is now a real-life Santa after he found himself in an unexpected role this past Christmas Eve when he saw over a dozen packages fall off of a FedEx truck.
Collin Peregoy said he attempted to alert the driver but the truck continued on its route, leaving him with the unopened mail, the majority of it being prescriptions.

“It was about 10 to 15 of them,” Peregoy said. “Half of them were marked as medicine. You can see on the actual label on the shipping label itself, it says stuff like Mayo Clinic, pharmacy, keep refrigerated.”
With this happening the day before Christmas, Peregoy said he knew some of these packages were time sensitive. The thought of someone missing essential medication over the holidays propelled him into action.
” I posted a video on social media and one of the comments said if it’s a FedEx shipping label the phone number should be on that label,” Peregoy said.
Peregoy said he contacted FedEx and was told the a delivery driver could not pick up the packages until Friday.
With the majority of the mail being medicine, he knew he could not wait that long.
“I felt like I needed to take control and try to get these packages delivered,” Peregoy said.
He began contacting the names listed on the packages, and arranging for them to be picked up.
Some called it a Christmas miracle.
“I go on vacation on Saturday, and I would not have been able to get it shipped. And then I don’t even know what I would have to do if I had to go two weeks without my medicine,” one person said.
Although none of the mail belonged to him, Peregoy said it was important to him to put himself aside and think about everyone else, serving as a poignant reminder of the impact one individual can have when they choose to act with empathy and care.
WRAL has reached out to FedEx asking for more information on their protocol when packages fall off of trucks.
