The case centers around Kevin Baillie, who served as vice president and head of creative at the studio, and his disclosure of having engaged in medically supervised ketamine treatment for clinical depression.
According to filings from a media source, Baillie’s dismissal followed an incident at a company retreat held at the exclusive Sendero Ranch in Northern California in January 2026. During a “Vulnerability-Trust exercise,” which aimed to foster openness among team members, Baillie revealed to his colleagues that he had undergone ketamine therapy, a treatment he sought for depression in the wake of his mother’s death in late 2022.
The lawsuit alleges that Baillie was subjected to an investigation by Netflix subsequent to his disclosure, which the company reportedly framed as suspicious. The investigation culminated in Baillie’s firing in April 2026. Legal documentation indicates that the ketamine issue was explicitly noted as a factor in his termination, with company representatives dismissively acknowledging the significance of his medical disclosures.
In addition to the circumstances surrounding his termination, Baillie points to a culture of alcohol consumption allegedly fostered by the company’s leadership, particularly Eyeline Studios CEO Jeff Shapiro. Baillie’s complaint cites examples of Shapiro allegedly providing alcohol at company events, suggesting an incongruity in how drug use is viewed within the organization.
Baillie’s lawsuit seeks a jury trial and encompasses claims for compensatory damages, emotional distress, and punitive damages. He has further asserted that he was denied severance pay, which typically could amount to one year of salary.
