Nvidia Gets a Win in Washington – Yahoo Finance

Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA) just scored a quiet but meaningful win in Washington after Congress left a proposal out of a must-pass defense bill that would have slowed its ability to sell AI chips overseas, Bloomberg reported.
The measure, dubbed the GAIN AI Act, would have forced Nvidia and AMD to prioritize U.S. buyers before shipping advanced processors to China or other restricted markets. For now, it did not make the final draft of the defense package due Friday, according to a person familiar with the bill, removing a near-term overhang for the industry even though it could still reappear later.
CEO Jensen Huang was on Capitol Hill as the debate unfolded, meeting with President Donald Trump and senior lawmakers. Outside Speaker Mike Johnson’s office, Huang said he was simply there to answer questions about AI, but his message was clear. He later called the decision wise and warned that the bill would have undercut U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence.
Investors get relief from a policy risk that threatened one of Nvidia’s most profitable global markets. Traders will now watch the final defense bill and whether fresh export limits surface in 2026.
