Paramount Animation Developing Animated Movie Based on Survivor with Jeff Probst as Executive Producer

Paramount Animation, in collaboration with CBS, is developing an animated feature film inspired by the highly successful reality competition series “Survivor.” This new project, which aims to merge the beloved elements of the original show within an animated framework, will feature animal contestants vying for a prestigious title on a remote and mystical island. Jeff Probst, the renowned host of the live show, will serve as an executive producer for this venture.

The concept for the animated film presents a unique premise, showcasing animals from diverse habitats across the globe as they compete for the title of the “sole Survivor.” This innovative approach allows the production team to utilize familiar themes from the original series—intense competition, surprising alliances, and dynamic personalities—albeit with a whimsical twist, as these traits will now manifest through animated animal characters.

Probst expressed enthusiasm about the project on social media, highlighting the creative freedoms that come with setting the story in the animal kingdom. He emphasized that while the characters may not be human, they will embody the spirit of competition and heart that “Survivor” is known for. This enthusiasm suggests a desire to attract not only loyal fans of the franchise but also a younger audience who may engage with the film’s animated format.

Jennifer Dodge, recently appointed president of Paramount Animation, will oversee the development of this film. Dodge has an impressive track record, having previously served as president of Spin Master, the studio behind “PAW Patrol.” Under her direction, Paramount Animation has been steadily expanding its project slate, which includes the forthcoming Christmas film “The Naughty List.”

The announcement of the animated “Survivor” film comes as the live series continues to thrive. Currently in production for its fall broadcast, “Survivor” recently concluded its 50th season with its most-watched finale since 2020. The season finale featured New Hampshire native Aubry Bracco receiving a million prize as the latest Sole Survivor.

As interest in animated adaptations continues to grow, Paramount’s approach with “Survivor” reflects a broader trend in the entertainment industry to reimagine established properties in fresh and engaging formats.
