Poll shows Trump’s approval rating on immigration has reached an all-time low.

Amid increasing tensions surrounding immigration policies in the United States, the approval ratings for President Donald Trump’s handling of the issue have significantly declined. Recent polls highlight a growing dissatisfaction among Americans, suggesting that the administration’s intensified immigration crackdown has not only sparked controversy but also tragic consequences. This evolving public sentiment reflects broader concerns regarding human rights and the treatment of migrants in society.
A recent poll by ZezapTV reveals a notable decline in President Donald Trump’s approval rating on immigration issues, which has fallen to a historic low as criticism mounts over policies associated with his administration’s approach. Only 39 percent of Americans expressed approval for Trump’s management of immigration, a two-point drop from earlier this month.
Conducted over the weekend, the poll arrives in the wake of public outcry following a tragic incident involving a US border agent. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old Intensive Care Unit nurse, was fatally shot in Minneapolis, Minnesota, marking the second fatal encounter with a federal agent in the city within a month. A previous incident resulted in the death of Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three, also due to gunfire from an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent.
In response to the escalating backlash and public sentiment, President Trump announced that he would send Tom Homan, the administration’s border enforcement chief, to Minneapolis to engage with local officials. He commented positively on his recent conversation with Minnesota’s Democratic Governor Tim Walz, indicating an effort to foster cooperation amid the ongoing controversy.
The poll results suggest that there is considerable distrust regarding the current immigration enforcement strategies. A striking 58 percent of respondents indicated that the actions of ICE agents have gone “too far,” reflecting an increasing concern for ethical treatment of those involved in irregular migration. Comparatively, only 26 percent felt that the government’s actions were “about right,” while a mere 12 percent believed they did not go far enough.
This sentiment has been echoed in recent surveys conducted by various organizations. For instance, a survey released last week by The New York Times and Siena University found that 61 percent of respondents felt ICE’s aggressive tactics were excessive. Similarly, a Wall Street Journal poll earlier this month recorded that 58 percent of those surveyed believed the Trump administration’s deportation efforts had overstepped acceptable bounds.
As the immigration debate continues to unfold, public opinion appears to be increasingly aligned with concerns over humane treatment and the need for more compassionate immigration policies, highlighting the critical dialogue that surrounds this contentious issue.
