According to a media source that tracks performance metrics in the region, the film garnered .9 million from 698,384 admissions, occupying 60.92% of the total market over the holiday weekend. This marks the film’s fifth consecutive weekend atop the box office, contributing to a staggering cumulative gross of .2 million, with over ten million admissions since its premiere on August 5.
In second place, the superhero film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” continued to perform well, generating 2,178 from 146,674 admissions across 725 screens. The film now boasts a cumulative gross of .9 million, having attracted approximately 8.8 million viewers since its release.
Meanwhile, the horror film “Obsession” debuted with a commendable performance, opening in third place with .1 million from 138,447 admissions over the three-day period. The film’s total, including mid-week earnings since its September 2 release, stands at .4 million from a total of 185,100 viewers.
The local drama “The Journey to Gyeongju” retained its momentum in fourth place, earning 9,527 from 49,417 admissions during its second weekend. Directed by Kim Mi-jo, the film has achieved a cumulative total of .1 million from 297,594 admissions, resonating with audiences looking for family narratives.
In fifth place, “Portrait of a Family,” another local film, opened to 6,526 from 40,835 admissions.
