Vodafone reports 9.7% revenue growth in Q1, with Africa achieving double-digit growth

Vodafone Group has reported a significant increase in its financial performance for the first quarter, marking a promising start to the fiscal year. According to a media source, the telecommunications giant achieved a revenue growth of 9.7%, reaching €10.3 billion. This growth is largely attributed to a robust rise in service revenues, which climbed 9.8% to €8.6 billion. On an organic basis, revenues increased by 5.2%, indicating a solid performance across all segments of the business.

Particularly noteworthy is Vodafone’s performance in Africa, where service revenues continued to experience double-digit growth on an organic basis. The company reported strong advancements in Egypt and within international markets served by Vodacom, highlighting the region’s increasing importance to Vodafone’s overall business strategy.

The adjusted EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amortization of Leases) increased by 6.7% to €2.9 billion. When viewed on an organic basis, this figure reflects a 6.2% increase, underscoring Vodafone’s efficiency and operational effectiveness during this reporting period. Furthermore, Vodafone’s operating profit surged from €2.9 billion to €3.9 billion, primarily due to a capital gain realized from the completion of the Safaricom transaction.

Vodafone’s Chief Executive Officer, Margherita Della Valle, emphasized the company’s commitment to a new chapter focused on sustainable growth during a recent statement. The organization aims to transition towards a more resilient and diversified earnings model. Della Valle remarked on the strong start to the financial year, with broad-based growth in all market segments and a notable 5.2% increase in organic service revenues. The company reported improvements in retail revenues in Germany, sustained commercial momentum in the United Kingdom, and continued double-digit growth in its African operations.

As Vodafone embarks on this renewed focus, stakeholders and investors will be closely monitoring its performance against this backdrop of expansion and strategic evolution in a competitive telecommunications landscape.
