After three successful years as CEO, Neumann moves to the Supervisory Board as Arora takes over the leadership of Grand Metropolitan Hotels

Grand Metropolitan Hotels (GMH) announces that Walter Neumann will join its Supervisory Board following three successful years as Chief Executive Officer. Ramesh Arora succeeds him as CEO, effective October 15. Neumann will continue to contribute to the group’s strategic development in his new board role, alongside his responsibilities as CEO of Vela Hotels.

The transition ensures continuity by retaining Neumann’s experience and knowledge of the organisation at Supervisory Board level, while bringing Arora’s extensive international hospitality expertise to the group’s executive leadership.

“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank Walter for three successful years as CEO of Grand Metropolitan Hotels and for his commitment to the development of our group,” said Martin R. Smura, Chairman of Grand Metropolitan Hotels. “I am delighted that we will continue to benefit from his expertise and perspective on the Supervisory Board. With Ramesh Arora as our new CEO, we have an internationally experienced hotelier who combines deep operational knowledge with commercial insight and a strong track record in hotel and brand development.”

Arora brings more than four decades of hospitality experience across Europe, Asia and the Middle East. As CEO of Signature Hotels Group, he became part of GMH’s leadership following the group’s acquisition of Signature Hotels in 2025, joining its Supervisory Board.

Previously, Arora served as Managing Director of The Montcalm Luxury Hotels in London. He Led the growth of one of London’s most successful and stunning hotel group, expanding from 2 hotels to 24 hotels over 23 incredible years.

Earlier in his career, he held Senior Management and General Manager positions with Holiday Inns, Inc. (whose Holiday Inn brand is now part of IHG Hotels & Resorts), Renaissance Group, Sheraton (both now part of Marriott International), Caravan Group and The Forte Group across Europe, UK, Middle East, Africa, South East Asia and India.

As GMH CEO, Arora will focus on strengthening operational and commercial performance, supporting international development and building long-term relationships with hotel owners and partners.

“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to build on the group’s progress,” said Ramesh Arora. “My focus will be on combining operational discipline and effective commercial support with the individual character of our hotels, creating lasting value for owners, guests and our teams.”
