The Caribbean-themed chain announced it is closing all of its restaurants after 30 years in business, including one location in Washington.

TUKWILA, Wash. — For a local island escape-themed restaurant, vacation is over.

Tukwila’s Bahama Breeze restaurant, the only location in Washington, announced it is closing its doors for good in April.

On Tuesday, its parent company, Darden Restaurants, announced 14 Bahama Breeze restaurants will close permanently across nine states. The remaining restaurants will be converted into other Darden brand restaurants, which include Yard House, Olive Garden and The Capital Grille, among others.

Closure of the location at 15700 Southcenter Parkway in Tukwila impacts 93 workers, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) from the Washington State Employment Security Department.

Bahama Breeze is expected to close Sunday, April 5.

According to the employment announcement, staff from a local Rapid Response Team and WorkSource will “contact employees of the organization to ease their transition.” The WARN report states employees will be offered transfer opportunities to other locations.

The restaurant focuses on Caribbean-themed fare and tropical drinks, with live music offered on Friday and Saturday nights. Dishes include the popular coconut shrimp, Jamaican jerk mahi mahi and pineapple chicken among other entrees, which can be paired with a selection of rum-based cocktails or other beachy favorites.
