Dutton Ranch Announces New Showrunner for Season 2

Paramount has announced a significant change in leadership for its hit streaming series, Dutton Ranch, as it prepares for its eagerly anticipated second season. The company has appointed Benjamin Cavell as the new showrunner, succeeding Chad Feehan, who departed from the role in June. Cavell is known for his extensive experience in the television industry, having previously worked on acclaimed shows such as Justified, SEAL Team, and The Stand.

Dutton Ranch has quickly established itself as a significant player in the streaming landscape, achieving remarkable success since its debut. The show was recently renewed for a second season, following its record-breaking launch as the biggest original series premiere in the history of Paramount+. Its initial airing on the Paramount Network has similarly attracted attention, being recorded as the most successful basic cable launch in three years.

The series continues the narrative established in the popular Yellowstone franchise, featuring fan-favorite characters portrayed by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. Both actors have expressed their feelings about the leadership transition within the production team. They acknowledge that such changes are a normal part of the industry and reflect on the collaborative nature of filmmaking.

Cavell comes to Dutton Ranch with a rich background in creating compelling narratives. He previously developed The Institute, based on Stephen King’s novel, and also has an impressive track record with SEAL Team, showcasing his ability to manage high-stakes, dramatic storytelling. His tenure on Justified saw him evolve from writer to executive producer over its six-season run, solidifying his reputation as a skilled showrunner.

The ensemble cast of Dutton Ranch includes notable actors like Finn Little, Juan Pablo Raba, Jai Courtney, J.R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca, Natalie Alyn Lind, and Academy Award nominees Ed Harris and Annette Bening. The finale for the first season is set to be released soon, following what has been described as a challenging yet fulfilling production process.

Dutton Ranch is produced by Paramount Television Studios in collaboration with 101 Studios, ensuring that the series maintains high production values and a strong narrative focus as it progresses into its second season.
