Anne Schedeen, celebrated for her role as Kate Tanner in NBC’s beloved sitcom “ALF,” has passed away at the age of 77. The actress, known for her remarkable presence on screen, departed peacefully, as confirmed by a media source. Her family announced her death through a heartfelt tribute on Facebook, although no specific cause of death has been reported at this time.

In their message, Schedeen’s family expressed their sorrow, stating, “It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share Annie has passed peacefully.” They celebrated her vibrant spirit and multifaceted personality, noting her creative energy, sharp humor, love for her family, and deep affection for animals, particularly dogs. Describing her as a “force,” they highlighted how unimaginable life would be without her presence but also recognized her lasting impact through cherished memories and creative works.

In honor of Schedeen’s legacy, her family requested that, instead of flowers, donations be made to Habitat for Humanity, one of her favorite charitable organizations. “We all love you, Annie,” they concluded, underscoring the profound loss felt by those close to her.

Her longtime agent, Tom Markley, corroborated the news of her passing, stating, “Annie meant the world to her family and this agency.”

Schedeen, born Luanne Ruth Schedeen on January 8, 1949, in Portland, Oregon, began her journey in acting during childhood. After gaining experience in local theater, including dinner shows in Hawaii, she ventured to New York City to pursue her career more seriously, eventually moving to Los Angeles after securing a contract with Universal Pictures.

Her television debut came in 1974 with an appearance on “The Six Million Dollar Man.” Over the years, she made guest appearances on various popular shows, including “McCloud,” “The Bionic Woman,” and “Cheers.” Notable film credits include “Embryo,” “Flight to Holocaust,” and “Cast the First Stone.” However, she is perhaps best known for portraying the warm-hearted Kate Tanner, a mother who welcomes an alien into her home, on “ALF,” which aired from 1986 to 1990.

Schedeen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Christopher Barrett, their daughter Taylor, son-in-law Hilary Flynn, and multiple family members, including her rescue dogs, Roo and Red. Her legacy will undoubtedly continue to resonate with her fans and loved ones alike.
